NOTE, I am not personally stating that the president-elect will do this; but I think it is a signifant to report if an elected official states such things in public:
——————-from the AP: [Click here to see the original]
By BEN EVANS –
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.
“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force,” Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. “I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.”
Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.
“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”
Obama’s comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation’s foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps “to renew our diplomacy.”
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” Obama said in July. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.
Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors “common sense” gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he’ll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.
“We can’t be lulled into complacency,” Broun said. “You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I’m not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I’m saying is there is the potential.”
Obama’s transition office did not respond immediately to Broun’s remarks.

In light of tonight’s victory – it is sad to see how a Black victory will continue to rob us of our Black citizenry.
The Following is from:
http://www.boundless.org/2000/features/a0000230.html
from the Article entitled: “Three Well Kept Secrets About Abortion”
by Sarah E. Hinlicky
…Racism
And that’s the third secret. Abortion is racist. It has been ever since Margaret Sanger [Google search on "Margaret Sanger Racism" - this link added by Luke] plotted to shrink the black population in this country by convincing blacks to limit their families through any means necessary, including contraception and abortion. Her Negro Project never reached any official status, but it may as well have. Since 1973, 10 million black babies have been aborted. (Don’t forget that a black baby is black from the moment of conception — there’s something the abortion activists don’t want you to think about.) The whole U.S. black population is around 31 million. So what could have been 25 percent of black America is wiped out without a trace. Even though blacks make up only 12 percent of the nation’s population [see stat - this link added by Luke], they account for 30 percent of its abortions. Wonder why? Maybe it’s because 78 percent of all abortion clinics — usually staffed by white health care professionals — are located in or near minority neighborhoods. And you thought lynchings were as bad as it got in this country. They pale in comparison to abortions. (If you don’t believe me, click over to www.ohiolife.org/stats/lynch.htm and see for yourself.)
Equally stunning are the legal parallels between abortion in the 20th century and slavery in the 19th. The Supreme Court decided in the Dred Scott case of 1857 that black slaves are not people, but property, because they are not protected by the Constitution. Consider these statements from the Scott case: “The word ‘citizen’ in the Constitution does not embrace one of the Negro race.” “The Declaration of Independence does not include slaves as part of the people.” “Such provisions of the Constitution do not put it in the power of a single state to make out one of the Negro African race a citizen of the United States, and to endue him with the full rights of citizenship in every other state without their consent.” “The enslaved African race was not intended to be included in, and formed no part of, the people who formed and adopted the Declaration of Independence.” It doesn’t take much imagination to see the same sick logic at work in Roe v. Wade. The fetus is not a person; it is not named in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution as part of the American community; the states are not allowed to decide for themselves how they’re going to handle the issue. The slave was the owner’s property, and at his disposal to keep or kill; the fetus is the mother’s property, at her disposal to keep or kill. Abolitionists were criticized for imposing their morality on slave owners; pro-lifers are criticized for imposing their morality on abortion activists and doctors. Slavery was protected by law then; abortion is protected by law now.

Sandwiched between these two articles, I have placed this link (above) to the brilliant article by Princeton Law Professor Robert George showing just how far Obama goes to support abortions.

The niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., has used an appearance at a Black History Month event in Washington, DC, to reject the claim that her famous uncle supported abortion rights for women.
Dr. Alveda King says although her uncle — the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. — accepted an award from Planned Parenthood in 1966, the abortion group had a “hidden agenda” at the time. “I don’t want anybody to be confused by thinking that Dr. King could condone the violent death of the little babies, and the violent consequences that women suffer,” King clarifies. “I’m post-abortive myself. I’ve suffered … and it was a secret in my family for too long. And so now we’re here today to speak out on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. Abortion is a racist, genocidal act.”
King was one of several black pro-life leaders who met in Washington yesterday to celebrate their ethnicity and decry abortion and its disproportionate effect on blacks. And during a news conference at the Family Research Council, Dr. Johnny Hunter, president of the Life Education and Resource Network, predicted that at some point in America abortion would be abolished, just like slavery and Jim Crow laws.
“The way of the wicked does not last forever, and that’s why we get to celebrate Black History Month,” says Hunter. “Because all throughout black history [there have] been blacks who have taken a stand no matter where the people were when they got here. By the time they left this earth, we were a little bit better off.”
Hunter declared that in merely three days time in America, the abortion industry “kills more blacks than the KKK ever lynched.”

The following excerpt links to a full length, must read, disturbing but necessary diatribe:
by Robert George
Oct 14, 2008
Sen. Barack Obama’s views on life issues ranging from abortion to embryonic stem cell research mark him as not merely a pro-choice politician, but rather as the most extreme pro-abortion candidate to have ever run on a major party ticket.
Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.
Yet there are Catholics and Evangelicals-even self-identified pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals – who aggressively promote Obama’s candidacy and even declare him the preferred candidate from the pro-life point of view.
What is going on here?

We are basically stuck in a merry-go-round as long as we accept our current system. The Democratic Political world kills babies. The Republican political world kills foreigners. No one cares for the constitution. Both of our parties (BOTH) are likely to keep our servicemen in interminable, illegitimate warfare in the middle east.
Christians: “our” side may not be for abortion, but we sure permit a lot of lies and powerplays that are full of ungodliness.
We must stem the tide of abortion – but while we must be active politically, we cannot rely on the Republican Party to be a savior.
On the Day of Judgment, no one group will be held more responsible for its systemic action about this issue than the church. And I don’t mean about how the church voted. I mean – did we actually do anything to lessen the occurence of abortion? Did we make women’s lives easier and make them feel taken care of and accepted and loved so that they had the hope and help necessary not to feel pushed into abortions?
Christians ought to be the ultimate “pro-woman” helpers in society.
BTW – I think it is completely irresponsible for this otherwise good video to be from a “nohussein” website. As if Barack Obama’s middle name has ANYTHING to do with a REAL intellectual argument. It sinks the level of discussion to ad hominem. I apologize that the video is flawed in this way.

Don’t confuse me for a Democrat, or for a supporter of all things Obama. I am an Anti-NeoConservative, Pro-Life, Libertarian-Minded, Anti-War Republican. Republican as Republican used to be.
But I don’t like lies either.
And I am less scared of the immediate effects of Obama on the world than I am of McCain on the world.
UPDATE (Nov 4): I am now VERY scared of Obama’s effects on abortion. I don’t like lies, from either side. But Obama is more anti-life than any candidate we have had for president before.

Take these facts into consideration and then read my question at the bottom; it concerns John McCain being willing to hold two drastically opposing positions professed on the same day, and accusing Obama of close to treason for holding one of the two same opinions as he himself puts forth. Am I wrong about this?
HERE ARE THE PRELIMINARY FACTS
*At least by the end of April, Gallup said that 63% of Americans saw the Iraq war as a mistake.
*70% of Americans want us out of Iraq (says Ron Paul at Antiwar.com)…
*Even if the surge has brought violence down, by last September, as many as 70% of Iraqis said that security had deteriorated in our “Surge” areas.
*The Administration of Iraq (P.M. Nouri al-Maliki) has demanded that we leave by 2010 – and are happy with Barack Obama’s timetable (See MSNBC video), remember!- John McCain said that if they asked us to leave, we would have to go (a blog distillation of the CFR original).
Copying Democracy Arsenal:
Question: “What would or should we do if, in the post-June 30th period, a so-called sovereign Iraqi government asks us to leave, even if we are unhappy about the security situation there?”
McCain’s Answer: “Well, if that scenario evolves than I think it’s obvious that we would have to leave because — if it was an elected government of Iraq, and we’ve been asked to leave other places in the world. If it were an extremist government then I think we would have other challenges, but I don’t see how we could stay when our whole emphasis and policy has been based on turning the Iraqi government over to the Iraqi people.”
Furthermore, our only legal basis for staying is the UN mandate which expires on December 31, 2008, after which we would have the DEMOCRATIC responsibility of allowing Iraq to be sovereign…
IN FACT, even the Bush Administration has now made it seem that they will #1) indeed begin withdrawal and #2) move our troops to Afghanistan (like Barack Obama said).
SOOOOO – EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE… WE ARE LEAVING, WE LEGALLY HAVE TO LEAVE, WE ETHICALLY HAVE TO LEAVE, THE AMERICANS WANT OUT, THE IRAQIS WANT US OUT…..
….but….
John McCain says, “I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign. [FOX, A good Countdown Vid]“
What does he think losing is? Coming home?… What does he think he will or can do as president? He blames Obama’s plan for potentially “Losing the WAR”….RIGHT AFTER SAYING HE WILL COME HOME SOOOOOONER than Obama. It sounds like he just blamed these people for wanting us gone: 1) America, 2) the Iraqi People, 3) the Iraqi government, 4) the United Nations, 5) the Bush Administration.
But that was only after saying that HE TOO would do the same thing. What? Yes. What he said, actually makes NO sense, it only has the APPEARANCE of making John McCain a better Commander, even though he is actually saying he opposes his own plan, the one he is being FORCED to take, which will finally force him to do what America and Iraq want…to the chagrin of the Military Industrial Complex.
[Watch the video - same Countdown Video].
REMEMBER – there is no defined way of saying WHAT this war actually is. Iraq already HAS a democratic government now. We apparently don’t care about LAW or Constitution, or decency. We just care about securing the rights to more oil.

I wrote this former post [Bush Administration Actions Encourage Diplomacy, Despite Vitriol Against Diplomacy], upset that Bush and McCain have acted like it is irrational for a politician to have talks with dictators – they have used the statement as a way of attacking Barack Obama for saying that he would consider talking with Ahmadinejad. The president implied that only really bad people would do such a thing…
Apparently Nouri al-Maliki (Our Guy), Prime Minister of Iraq, has been talking with Iran.
Apparently GHW Bush talked to such fellows himself.
